I've been here many times but first time getting the omakase tonight. OMG probably the best one I've ever had. Perfect amount of food. Not too full, not hungry. Fatty tuna roll, black caviar, perfectly cooked sea bass. Everything was perfect. And best of all the price was amazing at $70
I've been here for lunch and dinner and both times were great! Their pressed sushi is delicious but their lunch special for $22 is a steal for the amount of food they give! Can't go wrong with their sashimi, rolls or cooked fish dishes!
Not really a sushi expert by any means. In fact I don't eat any raw meats or fishes. Fresh ingredients, though portions do change in terms of eating in or takeout. Everything I've had from the vegetable roll to the spider roll has been amazing. The service is top notch. A bit more than I would have wanted to normally spend.
Food 10/10 Pretty great! I order the sushi set and the black cod. People call cod the chicken breast of the sea but it is usually super dry, but the dish I had was very tasty and juicy Service 10/10 I came alone and sat by the bar. The waiter came immediately after I sat down and the food came super quick. After I fished, I was able to chill with my drink without being pressured to leave. I come from New York, it is very common to be pressured to leave after the dinner is over Ambiance 10/10 The restaurant is not too big but feels clean and stylish 10/10 would come back and try a different set
How do you spell FABULOUS: K-A-T-S-U-Y-A, that's how! I was recently in the big city for a couple of days, and was craving some sushi for lunch. I found Katsu-Ya on Yelp, and it was only a couple of blocks away. I was worried they'd be busy during the lunch hour, and while the restaurant was pretty full, there was plenty of room for my party-of-one at the sushi bar. I had planned to order a la carte, but when I saw their "Power Lunch" special I just had to try it. I could not BELIEVE the assortment of food in this lunch. It was HUGE and could easily have fed two people. For only $24.80, it was a steal of a deal. (Heck, I paid almost that much for a fast food combo meal a few weeks ago!) The meal started with miso soup and a salad, then the main attraction arrived: a plate full of allll things yummy goodness: six pieces of nigiri (all fresh and delicious), two pieces of corn tempura (yes, corn - have never had it but it was quite wonderful), edamame, a seaweed salad, and a hearty piece of deliciously cooked salmon with fresh steamed veggies. I'm sad to say, as tasty as this meal was, I couldn't even finish it and ended up leaving about half the salmon when I left. Next time, I'll skip breakfast before heading here! The service was super friendly here, and the sushi bar chefs said hi and thank you to every guest. I really liked it. TBH, it kinda made me sad I don't live in the big city anymore!
This review is for the lunch menu only. The Sushi lunch bento is an incredible deal and you can order ahead for pickup. You get a little bit of everything: cooked fish, edamame, nigiri, crab rolls, and tuna over crispy rice. Plus a salad and miso soup! I highly recommend. I also stopped in for a sit-down lunch with my coworkers one day, and we ordered a bunch of different rolls and sashimi. The food was great at the restaurant too. Will definitely be back for lunch, and maybe dinner one day soon!
Service by Kin was 4.5 stars. Kin showed interest, was kind and very thoughtful. It felt good to be in Kin's presence. Food was overall 3.5 stars. - Ordered the miso bass lunch set (comes with cucumbers sunomono), veggies, and sauteed bean sprouts, soup, salad, a soft tofu and white rice. The fish was room temp (needed to be piping hot), I asked them to microwave it but the owner fired up a fresh one for me. A really good and tasty value for $16. - Ordered the salmon skin roll. It was kind of soggy. I asked for it to be served crispy. The 2nd time around was much better. I have to say, their customer service is excellent. I would have loved to come back to try other dishes. The place was pretty packed, alot of people like coming here.
Saw the stellar reviews on this spot so my husband and I came here for dinner together. We came on a weekday night around 6pm and were able to getting seating without a wait. Shortly after, the restaurant filled up. This place is really cute. Both indoor and outdoor seating and we also really liked that they have a mini elevator inside to make it ADA accessible. The table we were seated at was a little dark, so it was hard to read the menu. We got their sampler box which had the crispy rice, ceviche, crab roll, albacore, and yellowtail. This was pretty good! I would go for this again. The roll we ordered was just ok. It had shrimp tempura and some yellowtail on top and we also got their nabeyaki udon which we definitely would NOT recommend. The broth was flavorless and noodles were overcooked and soggy. Overall, a solid spot. I wouldn't come for authentic sushi here, but they have a nice ambiance to it.
